East meets West Educational Series
“Traditional Chinese Medicine in Arthritis”
The scientific committee of the Hong Kong Arthritis and Rheumatism Foundation has organized an “East meets West” educational series since 2009. This educational series aim to promote interflow of knowledge and experience on patient management between health care professionals practicing western medicine and traditional chinese medicine in the field of rheumatology.
The symposium on “Traditional Chinese Medicine in Arthritis” was held on 17 September 2011 at the Boys’ & Girls’ Club Association.
Prof. Feng Yibin, Assistant Director (Education) of School of Chinese Medicine from the University of Hong Kong, shared “the Pharmacology of traditional Chinese Medicine in Internal Medicine” which provided a key concept of the Chinese medicine pharmacology to the audiences. Then, Prof. Tong Yao, Chair Professor & Director of School of Chinese Medicine from the University of Hong Kong, delivered a talk on “the role of traditional Chinese Medicine in the management of arthritis”.
Besides, Ms. Tong Shong, Assistant Lecturer of Chinese Medicine Division from HKU SPACE provided the information on “diet and nutritious supplement in arthritis” which the audiences were interested the most. The symposium was well received.
