PsA Treatment and Medication Talk was taken part in the Hall of Breakthrough Centre in Jordan on 20 September 2014. The talk aimed to enhance people’s understanding of the symptoms and medication of PsA. There were 89 participants in total.

The talk was started by Dr. LEUNG Moon Ho, a specialist in Rheumatology, to clarify the falsehood of Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) and hope the public could truly understand the disease. Dr. LEUNG briefly explained the possible causes and symptoms and introduced the common complications of PsA. He emphasized on the importance of self-management. Patients should understand the illness and the medication well and be aware of their emotional condition. Physical exercise was also significant as it could help patients to relieve pain and restore the mobility. Patients would easily fall into the vicious cycle if the disease especially pain was not properly managed. Lastly, Dr. LEUNG expressed his viewpoints as a specialist on the common queries like the function of Chinese medicine and the application for Social Security Allowance (SSA) Scheme.

Apart from this, the talk was continued by Dr. Anna YUNG, a pharmacists, to discuss the proper way in taking medication. On top of Dr. LEUNG’s speech, Dr. YUNG further elaborated the symptoms of PsA. Categories and function of both external and internal medication were introduced. For the external application, common moisturizer and Vitamin D analogues were illustrated. Usual anti-inflammatory painkillers were also introduced. Through interacting with the audience, Dr. YUNG understood the experience of them in taking various medicines. Then, she further elaborated the function and side-effect of different medications and showed the correct way to maximum the function of those medicines.

The representative of Hong Kong Psoriatic Arthritis Association introduced the activities and services.

The talk then followed by a Q&A session where participants actively asked questions. Dr. LEUNG and Dr. YUNG answered with patience to solve their doubts. The audiences found the information from the talk useful and showed great interested in the daily treatment of PsA.
