25 August 2012
The “Public Talk – Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS)” was held at Assembly Hall, 4/F, YMCA of Hong Kong, on 25 August 2012. The talk aims to enhance people’s understanding of the up-to-date information and daily care of AS. There were about 170 participants.
The talk started with a presentation conducted by Dr. LEE Ka-wing, a Specialist in Rheumatology, who introduced the common causes of AS and illustrated the AS symptoms with some photos. He also provided a clear explanation of the health risks caused by the disease, the remedies including the new trend of treatments and the daily self-care methods for AS patients. The talk followed by a Q&A session. Participants actively asked questions. Dr. LEE answered with patience and illustrated his answer by relating his diagnosis experiences in Rheumatology, so as to solve their doubts.
After that, Mr. NG Nai-kong, a clinical psychologist, introduced the common emotions and feelings of a person when facing a stubborn disease. He quizzed the audience with some pictures. This brought them experiences of how one’s mentality could be affected by personal mind and external environments. Mr. NG then shared some keys on how to face adversities.
Lastly, Mr. LAW Lok-lam, a famous artist, shared his own health tips. Meanwhile, outside the Assembly Hall, the Foundation had prepared some copies of the 10th Anniversary memorial book and offered with a promotional price. Some audience showed interested and each purchased a copy. The Foundation is grateful to all supporters.
